Featured Van: LDV Deliver 9 Campervan Conversion

Rent Julie Van-Drews here!

It’s hard for us to play favourites with our campervans, so let’s just say we’re pretty dang stoked with the latest van to hit the rental fleet — Julie Van-Drews.

It’s big, boujee, and has all the modern bells and whistles that make driving feel like a breeze — a major plus when you’re visiting from a country that drives on the wrong side of the road ;)

Our 2022 LDV Deliver 9 is loaded with a 2.0L turbo diesel engine, a six speed automatic gearbox, and enough seating for three. It’s the ultimate choice for small families or a couple wanting some extra room while campervaning around New Zealand. Or maybe three small friends? We don’t judge, we just want you to be comfortable.

Let’s take a deep dive into the latest and greatest.

Why did we build this

We wanted to build something with a bit of extra space and a little extra oomph. We’re all about comfort in our vans, and we wanted to make this one the comfiest yet. It’s truly like a mini-apartment, so whether you’re out hiking all day or are stuck inside due to rain, you’ll find yourself plopped down in a little oasis. It’s really that good.

A few of our favourite things about this LDV Deliver 9 Campervan Conversion:

Layout

Stepping inside, this thing is sexy. In the words of Matt, the campervan fitout looks ‘shit hot’ (that’s really freaking great for all you non-kiwis out there). We mean it though, it’s Scandi-minimalism at its finest, with an oak veneer bench top and cabinets, oak ceiling, white walls, tiles, and stainless steel finishing. We’re all about the finer details on our vans, and Julie Van-Drews shows that off in spades.

One of the greatest things about this layout is the rear fixed bed, so you can always hop in for a snooze — no need to convert a seating area when nighttime falls. There’s also a front seating area, featuring a swing away table mount for a quick spot to eat. The gallery style kitchen features soft close drawers and cupboards, a 65L Isotherm fridge, sink, tap, and induction cooker. It’s minimalism at its finest.

Power System

After working on a few private van conversions, we were inspired by a few extras that we wanted in our vans, too. All that additional kit requires an impressive power system, which this campervan delivers in spades.

Julie Van-Drews features an induction twin hob cooker to whip up gourmet meals lickety split, as well as 700W of solar panels to keep things topped up, charging the van while it runs. We’ve also included a 3000W inverter/charger to power basically anything — induction cooker, e-bikes, lava lamps — you name it.

Finally, if you want to get the heck outta dodge, you can go off grid with the 400AH lithium battery bank. We suspect you’d be able to ‘escape’ in the summer for 3-5 days, and 1-2 in the winter, depending on your use.

Storage

There’s plenty of storage in this campervan, so don’t be afraid to pack all your essentials. With top storage for clothes and small gear, kitchen storage for cooking stuff, and a safe to keep valuables, you won’t feel cluttered when you’re inside the space. Even better — there’s garage storage in the rear via a pull out drawer for easy access to the big things. With a total additional length of 2700mm, it’s perfect for skis, surfboards, and more.

Winter Use

It’s no joke that New Zealand gets cold. But, we’ve also got some pretty epic skiing and bucket list worthy destinations when it’s winter, so why let a bit of freeze scare you off? This campervan is equipped with an easy to use diesel heater to keep your toes warm, plus it’s fully insulated. If that doesn’t whet your whistle, we’ve updated the layout in this van and put the kitchen inside, so no more standing in the driving range while you try to cook up some sausages. The Maxxair Maxxfan and window system provides the ultimate ventilation so you don’t have to smell like said sausages.

Building this campervan was a hoot. After years of campervan rentals and private conversions at Matt and Dan’s, we’ve learned a thing or two. We’re stoked to present you with the latest and greatest for rental, and welcome you with open arms to explore New Zealand.
