Featured Van: The A-List Nissan NV350 Campervan Conversion

Nissan Caravan NV350 Campervan Conversion

You may notice we have a lot of love for our self-contained A-List campervans, and well, we do. Taking inspiration from our own van trips, we built out the A-List with all the features we want while road tripping. Plus, with years of van building under our (tool) belts, we were ready to create something new. We think you’ll love it.

Why the change

With some recent updates to self-containment and vehicle importation regulations, we had to make changes to our vans that would ensure compliance and regular supply. One big decision was switching to the twin-slider van style, allowing great additional light and room for a ‘utility cupboard’ to the kitchen’s rear, with easy access to the electrics and water systems. We also kitted out the vans in plenty of features to make van life even more comfortable.

A few Features of this Nissan NV350 Campervan Conversion:

Layout

The new twin-sliders gave us room to play around with the kitchen and living space, creating a comfortable bed-in-back and kitchen-up-front scenario, different from our OGs. This means more room where it counts - like a queen-size bed instead of a double.

Components

We’ve been in the business long enough to know a good product when we see one, and we’ve slowly been creating a wish-list of our favourite van items to add to our new builds. The A-List vans get them all, with 30L compressor fridge, water pumps, bedside USBs, and plenty of LED lighting to set the mood.

Slide-out Cooker and Workspace

The new slide-out cooker is one of our favourite features on the A-List vans. With plenty of bench space in the kitchenette, you’ll be able to prep while your mate cooks out the back. Utilising the rear door as a cover, the cooker sliders out the back with an independent workbench, making this the perfect all-weather kitchen.

Other Handy Features

The fully functioning kitchenette features a 30L compressor fridge (perfect for a post-swim cold one), two-burner gas cooker, food storage space, and sink. The kitchen tap runs off an electric water pump, making dishes a breeze, and has 27L of fresh and grey water storage tanks that are easy use.

If you’re looking for easy living, you can’t get much better than the compact-yet-cosy A-List. The van quickly converts from a comfortable u-shaped living space with sturdy table - plenty of room for four - to a luxury queen size bed with a thick foam mattress. Plus, blackout curtains on all windows and a blind on the vent blocks out light and keeps things private.

On the techy side, there’s an inverter system that runs 350w of power - perfect for charging a laptop or camera. With the auxiliary battery and solar system setup, running a fridge, lights, and phone charger all night won’t drain the battery. We’ve installed LED lighting with dimmers to set the mood and bedside USB powerpoints to easily charge your phone at night, just like home. Finally, there’s a 230v plug-in available, making it possible to keep warm in winter with a heater or boil an electric jug.

For an extra layer of security, we also added a lockable storage box to store personal belongings.

These vans are certified self-contained, so you’ll be able to park up anywhere (that legally allows freedom campers) for the night and enjoy New Zealand’s outdoors from your kitchen. This also means you’ll have a toilet, rubbish bin, and plenty of fresh and grey water storage on deck.

Why Go Big?

Asking your parents to pick their favourite child is rude, so we couldn’t possibly say which of our vans is our favourite. However, we’re really digging the freedom and comfort A-List vans bring, and we think you will, too.
