Featured Van: Ainsley’s Toyota Hiace ZX Jumbo Campervan Conversion

Ainsley came to us with her Toyota Hiace ZX Jumbo and one request — to make her campervan the ultimate weekend getaway vehicle. The Toyota Hiace ZX Jumbo — also known as the Grand Cabin or Minibus — happens to be one of the finest for campervan conversions on the market, so we were ready to create a dream adventure vehicle for Ainsley, her partner, and their pup.

How we achieved Ainsley’s campervan conversion needs

In addition to wanting something practical, functional, and easy to use, Ainsley and her partner wanted their campervan to be set up for working remotely. Comfort and functionality were key, so we made sure we added plenty of thoughtful touches that would make work on the road easier, like USB ports next to the pull-out table, plenty of lighting, and thermal curtains for working inside on cold days. The sleek interior gave us plenty of free reign to play around with, creating a campervan conversion perfect for an outdoor adventure and hunkering down inside.

a few Features of this Toyota Hiace Campervan Conversion:

Tonge & Groove Panelling

We have quite a few campervan conversions under our belt now, so we’re confident when we say our panelling is truly tried and tested. Offering a bright and open look, our premium T&G panelling allowed us to highlight the van’s tall ceilings and frame out a few windows to let some natural light in. For the cabinetry layout, we went with another fan favourite L-shape that provides maximum, easily-accessible storage for everything one could possibly need on a road trip. We also included a flip benchtop to store the cooker, and allow it to be pulled out for sunny days.

New Lithium Electrical System

Ainsley’s Toyota Hiace is the first to feature our new and improved electrical system. We’ve taken feedback and test use cases from previous customers and have tweaked and refined our system to perfection. Featured are Mastervolt items such as a 50A DC/DC charger, a 15A Battery charger, and a DuoRacer solar regulator with 200W of panels. This includes an Energi 115 AH Lithium Battery, which is a great improvement on the AGM batteries, as it’s lighter, gets more cycles, and is backed up with a 5 year manufacturer warranty.

To make sure everything is going well the BEP monitoring system, now keeps an eye on all batteries — both the start and secondary — as well as monitoring for water tanks.

All of the Add-ons

With the flexibility of the space, we were able to add so many additional features to this van! Since Ainsley wanted to be able to work remotely, we focussed a lot of our attention on “office” comforts, adding in a Lagun Swing Away table mount, so the table can be moved with ease, as well as on-board WiFi and a multi-channel LED lighting system.

This campervan also features a powered Maxxfan, which is perfect for ventilation and comfort, all while providing rain protection. For winter days, we added in a diesel heater and thermal backed curtains. Finally, we installed a Fiamma awning so Ainsley and team can enjoy sunny days with a view.

This Hiace ZX campervan conversion is one of our favourite yet, allowing us to install some impressive add-ons while keeping the campervan spacious and bright.
